Wrote this for an old school project:
I resemble the mighty tree Stern, rooted, and defiant I tremble at no type of seed Stand tall as a giant Knowing my status way up high As a regal behemoth I see young saplings that bravely try To surpass my zenith Yet even I sway alongside The taller, greater trees With a strong wing we rock and ride With the gentlest of ease My fellow trunks are firmly rooted, no doubt Because we face the roughest weather And if a fire happened to break out If he falls, then we fall together But there is always some woodsman With sharp weapon, intentions sour Who wants to destroy me, not because he can But because he fears my power Yet even when the deed is done And a stump I am reduced to I rise slowly but surely to the sun A goal I’ll have to get used to Still I resemble the mighty tree Stern, rooted and defiant And I still tremble to no type of seed I stand tall as a giant
Note: Despite the comparison towards myself, the title "Impenetrable Forest" is also dedicated to the American people, who must stay together and stand tall (like the trees of a forest) in order to survive. Just so you know.
